What makes an individual qualified to take on the task of hopefully saving this place? In the current situation it was just the willingness to try and for someone to get organized. I literally saw Antibody's post and thought, "what can I do?" As I started to see what it would take I realized (very quickly) I could not do it alone. I immediately sought out Moviesnob.
I've known James (online) for nearly a decade. We've exchanged a lot of emails through the years and I've always respected him for what he's accomplished... his story is quite interesting on how he got to where he is today. In my humble opinion he's going to be an asset in most setttings, but without question in a situation like we find ourselves in today. I'm truly comforted in the fact I can reach out to him and get sound advice on said topics.
This all hit suddenly and I started running polls and getting feedback from some of the other members of this board. I got this amazing article about a VERY accomplished individual that I immediately thought to myself "this guy would be a HUGE asset'. I sought out the individual and was introduced to SenJohnBlutarsky. We started talking by one (A LOT) and it wasn't long that I realized that it wasn't a question of should he be involved, but rather that what has been done this far would not have been possible without him.
Cris has spent dozens, if not over a hundred hours on this and is more qualified/decorated than you could imagine. We talk daily and I've determined I WOULDN'T do this without him.
Politics are a sensitive subject. Nobody is trying to limit free speech. We're trying to save this site and stop misinformation/manipulation when it reveals itself. We all have our own take on society, etc., but we know how to be respectful of one's opinion and when someone is going beyond that.
Personally, I'm against any conservative voice being silenced, but we shouldn't have to police those type of comments. Politics belong on the Life board. Misinformation and manipulation also have no place in this game.
Lastly, I've tried to put myself out there and ask why anyone would trust ME to help be the representation for this forum to keep this game alive. The answer is you don't. You can trust and put hope into what myself, as well these gentleman who are along side me are doing or not.
The bottom line is we've spent money, time, and researching with lawyers, etc and for nothing more than to find a way to help any and all of you have the ability to keep playing this game. We're looking for more people to help and I've started identifying a couple already that I feel will be major assets for the cause. When they come on some people might say the same thing, no time for criticism of past conflicts but instead and that you owe them a thank you. There is no glory in this work, so please don't punch the gifthorse in the mouth.
Please support us or don't, and if you choose not to because of an online handle that you don t agree with, then don't be upset when you can no longer play this game. We're giving you the outlet to help, so please give us the support and room to get it done.
Like I said, I don't feel as though I need to justify for whom is doing what to anyone, but you have our names, so feel free to do your research. Then come tell me we're not the people qualified to work for free to save this site for you.
Thank you all again for your support, and I hope my words are not taken as snarky. I really just want to move past this funding and get to Stage 2 of this project.
