Doesn't matter here tho. I have determined from their web site that they are underreporting the % of positivity. This week I calculate a 1.5% increase of positivity from last week's 11% rate. Of course, the Florida DOH said we were at 4% or 5% last week. Their claim is that retests are done that only they can see. I emailed an Orlando Sentinel reporter and he stated that the web site gives the number of positive cases, not tests. In my personal tracking I have found the rate of positivity has not been under 10% since at least w/e June 11.Ā
The cute thing is...the state changed the web site to show a target rate of positivity to be 10% rather than the CDC 5%. Transparency is not desired so Gov. DeSantis can control the narrative. If all the governors would just be like him, every state could open fully. Then maybe we could achieve herd mentality. *Note sarcasm font for last two sentences.
