NATO/Studios/Exhibitors re-opening awareness campaign has been underwhelming (some of that is to be expected with not everything open)

Posted by: notfabio on Oct 07, 08:29 in response to Moviesnob's post Cuomo is a scapegoat that serves NATO's immediate needs....

It should be impossible to not know that movie theatres are open in "insert area here" for anyone vaguely interested in movies. General public has no idea for the most part.

Of course studios aren't going to bankroll massive re-opening campaigns until LA/NYC are open, so kind of a catch-22 thing going on.

Things like Tom Cruise, Chris Nolan going to the movies promo stunts are actually a good idea but it's like there was a push for a week and that was that. Could also be that celebs don't necessarily want to be on the hook if there are outbreaks and themsevles aren't comfortable going to movies (Jordan Peele is one in that category).

THR: It's all out assault on Cuomotime! All of NATO's CEO's and Top Studio Executives have been brushed off by Cuomo for calls. notfabio Oct 07, 06:50

Cuomo Top Advisor response to article "“We understand some people are unhappy, but you know what? Better unhappy than sick or worse.” {nm} notfabio Oct 07, 06:51

Hard for a rational person to disagree with that {nm} Moviesnob Oct 07, 07:07

"Rational" is the operative word. {nm} Wilderness_Journey Oct 07, 07:14

my thought as well. {nm} csbd Oct 07, 07:25

Too much blaming of the wrong people, IMO. Jay_Beezy Oct 07, 07:49

Cuomo is a scapegoat that serves NATO's immediate needs. blaming the fed government wont help with the bailout and blaming the audience for Moviesnob Oct 07, 08:13

Too many industries also need the bailouts. It wouldn't be reasonable for theaters to get eariler (and bigger) bailouts than others {nm} Peterlee Oct 07, 08:19

if every business had gotten the two-month payment to stay closed in March/April while workers stayed at home to smash the virus, theaters pickle rick! Oct 07, 09:02

What? And panic everyone (Wall St.)? {nm} Catzan Oct 07, 09:48

Yep. The polling pre Tenet turned out to be accurate as well. So most people did t know and those that did did t want to go Moviesnob Oct 07, 09:11

Probably decided it was better not to engage for legal reasons as far as a possible NJ style lawsuit {nm} notfabio Oct 07, 09:18

More people know Regal is closing than knew theaters opened again. {nm} Catzan Oct 07, 09:50

it's the Disneyland tactic =P {nm} tealfan Oct 07, 08:43

Yeah. Plus, I also forgot about Cuomo allowing other close quarter businesses to reopen. {nm} Jay_Beezy Oct 07, 12:20

Theatrical is dying. Hollywood should just simply accept its fate, because it just doesn't matters. Peterlee Oct 07, 08:23

Films iare how the USA dominates the global culture. It does matter. {nm} Antibody Oct 07, 08:37
