The trio of Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Robinson has had quite a journey in recent years. The Dixie Chicks ‘Not Ready to Make Nice’ comes off their 2006 LP Taking the Long Way, whose recording was the subject of the documentary Shut Up and Sing. Having suffered a backlash after anti-Bush comments from 2003, the trio delivers a more intellectual and political album geared at getting their stance across. The Chicks’ are celebrating a comeback, scoring five nominations including Record, Song and Album of the Year.
