Slipping a bare 3% from its opening weekend, Puss in Boots [PUSNB] stomped the competition with an estimated $33.0 million to keep its box office crown. The animated feline has purred its way to $75.5 million.
Universal's Tower Heist [TWRHS] opened in second place at a lower than expected $25.0 million. The comedy attracted an audience that was 71% over the age of 25 and 56% male.
Warner Bros.' A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas [HAKU3] unwrapped $13.1 million to debut in the third spot. The 3D novelty couldn't help the R-rated sequel beat the previous installment Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay's $14.9 million.
Paranormal Activity 3 [PNAC3] captured another $8.5 million to bring its total to $95.3 million.
Rounding out the top five, In Time [NTIME] declined a respectable 36% in its second weekend to $7.7 million.
