Sony Picture Classics has released the theatrical trailer for the comedy Damsels in Distress [DMSDS], the first film from writer-director Whit Stillman since 1998's The Last Days of Disco. Greta Gerwig [GGERW] stars as a suicide prevention counselor who takes co-eds with man troubles under her wing. Damsels in Distress opens in limited release on April 6th.
A trio of beautiful girls set out to revolutionize life at a grungy American university - the dynamic leader Violet Wister, principled Rose and sexy Heather. They welcome transfer student Lily into their group, which seeks to help severely depressed students with a program of good hygiene and musical dance numbers. The girls become romantically entangled with a series of men - including smooth Charlie, dreamboat Xavier, the mad frat pack of Frank and Thor - who threaten the girls' friendship and sanity.
