Box Score: The Dark Knight Rises is third highest ever.
Due to the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado, the studios withheld the reporting of the box office estimates over the weekend. The Dark Knight Rises [BATM3] has officially earned $160.9 million over the weekend, toppping its predecessor The Dark Knight's $158.4 million to become the biggest 2D debut of all times.
Ice Age: Continental Drift [ICEA4] was bumped down to second with $20.4 million. The animated sequel tumbled 56% from ts debut as families stayed home.
The Amazing Spider-Man [SPID4] finished third at $10.9 million.
