The audience for the PG-13 rated Mama skewed 61% female and 63% under 25.
Silver Linings Playbook [SLINB] rose to third place with $13.0 million in its expansion to 2523 theters. The multiple-Oscar nominated comedy has tallied $57.0 million.
Gangster Squad [TFGSQ] finished fourth at $10.3 million. The period actioner dropped 49% from its debut when comparing the 3-day portion of the weekend.
Despite a star-studded cast, Broken City [BRKCT] debuted with just $9.5 million over the holiday weekend. The R-raed thriller attracted an audience that was 78% over 25.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is back but moviegoers didn't cared as The Last Stand [LSTND] managed only $7.2 million over the long weekend.
