Natalie Portman cast as the love interest in Thor

Marvel has confirmed months-old rumor that Natalie Portman [NPORT] will star as the female lead in Thor [THOR].  Portman will play Jane Turner, a nurse who falls for the Norse God of Thunder, previously cast Chris Hemsworth [CHEMS].  In the film, Thor has been banished from the mythical realm of Asgard for reigniting an ancient war.  Forced to live with mortals in modern time, he learns to become a true hero when Loki, the God of Mischief, invades Earth.


Portman is best known for playing Padme Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Hopefully, she gets better lines to work with than "Hold me like you did on Naboo".  Production will start in 2010 after she finishes Black Swan [BLKSW].
