Option: Use a variety of stock quantities that each represent different "strategies."
It doesn't necessarily work for everyone, but I purchase different stock volumes of certain stock "types" so that it is easier to track them. It takes a bit of time to set up, and I guess I don't fully maximise my potential gains, but it makes my life so much easier!
E.g. 99996 - Day trading & News
99997 - Movies that are to be released in the next 3 months
99998 - My shorted "bleeder stock" strategy
99999 - Penny stocks
100000 - Stocks I'm 100% confident I don't need to worry about. ie ARB, OW, etc.
I therefore only need to really keep track of the handful of stocks that are in my 99996 category as I trade them constantly. Obviously I check the bleeder stocks every now and then to make sure there aren't losses (if there are in excess I just cover and move on).
I just find it so much easier to manage ones portfolio if one uses this technique, instead of merely looking at overall/daily gains and losses.
