Because it's a pretentious mess (spoilers), if the entire movie was like the first heist it would have been great

Sure the cinematography is beautiful and the direction is good, but it has major plot issues and a lame ending. If the driver is such a good guy with his code of honor and all that, why does he drive for criminals in the first place? If he's been working for Brian Cranston all those years getting help from him for his illegal activities (here's a bland Impala with extra zoom like you asked for) and Brian Cranston has been working with Albert Brooks all those years, why is this the first Albert Brooks has heard of the kid? The sheer amount of coincidence is ridiculous, but I'd have to spell out the entire plot to make all the points so I won't. They make the driver out to be a smart/prepared guy, so why is he so dumb at the end? He sees how Brian Cranston died and knows who killed him, so why not prepare himself accordingly? He puts on a mask when he takes out Ron Perlman (and why? he doesn't need to protect his identity, they already know who he is). So why not borrow a protective suit to wear under his clothes to make him more stab/slash resistant?Ā

So what's up with the hate on Drive? 93% from critics and 88% from movie goers on Rotten Tomatoes Juiced Sep 17, 06:32

Rottentomatoes isn't really the average moviegoer. It's more in line with IMDB users, the type that would fall in line with critics {nm} HarryWarden Sep 17, 06:35

I actually liked it quite a bit. Not as much as I was hoping I might based on the reviews, but... Ruthian23 Sep 17, 06:49

You gotta see it again... trust me. TheWeekendWarrior Sep 17, 07:02

I'll likely do that when it comes out on DVD or HBO. {nm} Ruthian23 Sep 17, 07:05

I never considered IMDB as a source to fall in line with critics... SakowskyBrothers Sep 17, 07:06

To be honest... Drive is the best movie of this year. {nm} bapi Sep 17, 07:10

Looks to me judging by the comments that the film embraces the current trend of foreign "slow cinema" mixed with graphic brutality... SakowskyBrothers Sep 17, 07:15

Maybe it's just the right type of fresh air the box office needs. {nm} SakowskyBrothers Sep 17, 07:19

Writing "spoiler alert" in the heading of your post might've been nice (not that I was going to see it anyway, but still...) {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Sep 17, 08:14

He said spoilers, but I read it on accident anyway. Fcuk! Still going to see it anyway, sounds even more intriguing now. {nm} SakowskyBrothers Sep 17, 08:21

Comments like this are why I hardly post here anymore. Thanks for reminding me. {nm} ceregon Sep 17, 08:51

I missed it when I read it. I'm sorry. {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Sep 17, 11:05

so I guess when he said (spoilers) he should have spelled it out for you....oh.... {nm} Anniebecca Sep 17, 09:06

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Sep 17, 11:06
