Being that it was Fathers' Day, might not be so awesome.

Green Lantern was down 10% on its Fathers Day Sunday so still impressive

people loved GL though.

Yet curiously, GL seems to have the lowest Father's Day drop before SUPR2; Batman Begins may be third. Go DC Dads! :-) {nm}

I said that was awesome because I had never see a drop that low outside of a Mothers Day run. RogerMore had some stats about Sunday

It actually is the best fathers day hold in history

Yep, I can't find any better than GL actually. Batman Begins dropped 13.1% but it opened the Wed. Toy Story 3 dropped 13.5% {nm}

BB's Final # (not delist) was 2.816 of its Father's Day cume. If SUPR2 does that it'll end with $326.76M. {nm}

I guess all that talk about wal mart giving away tickets was hogwash

Walmart of only Thursday, not Sunday.

Did nilephelan ever provide the evidence you'd asked for though, that there were only $2.5M or so Thu 7pm actually sold? {nm}

But implication of "walmart not selling tickets" meme was that film was not as popular as it was showing to be

There were 100++ sponsors putting iup $160M. Maybe they all got allocated tickets for customers, employees, contests, etc. {nm}

Picked up via WalMart not "given away" but fully paid for. The only place I saw this become an issue was nilephelan's post. {nm}

It wasn't hogwash. That number of $12 million was guarenteed the second they announced the promotion because Wal-Mart was paying.....

*Guaranteed* - sorry for the spelling error

Even that's speculation but the "hogwash" thatpj referred to is you saying 20% were sold 80% given away. You cited no source for that. {nm}

And notfabio's report was midnights 3x WalMart, but whitewalls was WalMart 5x midnights. So it varied; zero proof of 80% giveaways. {nm}

That $116.7M domestic for SUPR2 is just over what Green Lantern made in its entire run ($116.6M) :-) {nm}
