I have no special affection for the original and had *no* expectations for the sequel, saw it completely at random at Cinefamily
And I loved the **** out of it. Sure, there are some really, really, really bad parts. But there is also an interesting and unique take on faith and some really groovy special effects. There is one scene in particular that plays with multiple exposures in a way that is straight up magic. I understand the jist of how they got the effect, but It's utterly seamless. There are so many ideas and things going on. Does it all come together? Hell no. But it made me think and feel and showed me things I had never even dreamt of. It's the best possible sequel to a movie like the Exoricst.
How many horror sequels have ever made you *feel* something?
Also... I was profoundly, shall we say, *altered* while watching the film. So, I might have been seeing a few things that... Um... weren't on screen for everyone else?
