A $100 increase in stock price would put it in line for a 145M opening, which I think is pretty close to where it'll end up.

Iron Man opened to 98M when Robert Downey Jr. was a far less recognizable commodity, and it received tons of praise from both critics and moviegoers. It only made 31% of its domestic take on opening weekend, which is pretty damn good for a comic book adaptation. Plus Downey has Sherlock Holmes coming very soon, which looks like a surefire hit for him.

There's no reason to think it'll open under 130M when it's all said and done, much like the overall increase from Transformers 1 to 2 (except how the second one kind of sucked). And I think it should clear that mark with a little room to spare. However, I don't think The Dark Knight's 158M will fall.

IRNM2 will be be the biggest opener in history by a large margin and is at least $100 underpriced right now. Discuss. {nm} PendenteLite Dec 17, 08:36

i agree. /thread {nm} adrenalin112 Dec 17, 08:41

It also doesn't open for 4 1/2 months and smaller ports might be better investing their money elsewhere. {nm} secretstalker Dec 17, 08:53

DEFINE: SMALL / the only 2 blockbusters that i feel have room in price beforehand are clash & possibly a sherlock short if avatar has legs adrenalin112 Dec 17, 08:57

Avatar legs won't have any effect on Sherlock. There's more than enough room on that weekend for two big movies. {nm} secretstalker Dec 17, 09:00

avatar, alvin, & sherlock = 3 big movies {nm} adrenalin112 Dec 17, 09:03

Plus quite a few here seem to believe that UPAIR and It's Complicated will be big (kinda) also... {nm} Facto Dec 17, 09:36

It's not just about blockbusters. There'll be more money to be made by holding every wide release movie after the Christmas weekend adjust RogerMore Dec 17, 09:53

Laughable on all points! IMO, Iron Man is not the kind of title with the necessary universal appeal for such lofty aspirations. HuskyMiller Dec 17, 08:55

obvious [HMILL] troll post is obvious. {nm} adrenalin112 Dec 17, 08:57

I disagree. I think the biggest opening for a movie right now belongs to HPOT8, and I aldo think its the most undervalued stock in HSX {nm} gogreen Dec 17, 09:48
