The market is absolutely NOT BEING MANIPULATED.

Posted by: ndmaster (a.k.a JonHH) on Mar 03, 09:43 in response to Willroast's post The thing that bums me out about these overpriced IPOs...

Just because traders sell off positions to raise cash, that is not manipulation. That is dimply the definition of a market. Some of us like these high IPOs because our ports are positioned to take advantage of it.

The thing that bums me out about these overpriced IPOs isn't, and let me be clear, that there is nothing unfair about them... Willroast Mar 01, 21:02

Wow. Powerful stuff! {nm} Chateau_du_Mal_Voisin Mar 01, 21:20

Not saying I disagree, but if the IPO had been priced at...$60, would the stock have moved differently with its 2018 release date? pennystocks2 Mar 01, 21:32

I hear what you're saying penny. I was more talking about the effect that it has on all the other stocks. {nm} Willroast Mar 01, 21:47

(well, that and the fact that, typically, an IPO would be priced at, with research, the price that it would be expected to hold) {nm} Willroast Mar 01, 21:57

There are few stocks with a 2017 or 2018 release date that are holding their price right now, far less an IPO. pennystocks2 Mar 01, 22:15

Yes, I think they did. I think they were testing the market. I think all of this is under-the-hood stuff. There is no other logical reason. Willroast Mar 02, 00:21

Totally agree. {nm} pennystocks2 Mar 02, 00:35

Here's How the IPO Road Test went. RotoHockeyYTD2014 Mar 02, 00:58

HA {nm} Dorfman Mar 02, 09:29

Completely agree {nm} Dorfman Mar 02, 09:29

It comes down to players who can't really afford the expensive IPO but think it's easy money so they sell off everything to buy it. pennystocks2 Mar 01, 22:07

Think about what you are saying. It's absolute truth. All seasoned traders know it. I agree. However... {nm} Willroast Mar 02, 00:25

...that doesn't change the fact that there is clearly a shift going on in pricing. Willroast Mar 02, 00:34

Yes, I had a good 2014 even with taking 3 months off, but I've had a tough time so far this year. Trading patterns seem different to pennystocks2 Mar 02, 00:43

It's all about adapting my friend. It used to be about other things (like BO predicting) but now it is entirely about adapting. Willroast Mar 02, 00:57

It would seem obvious I would think to keep the game more fun than frustrating. pennystocks2 Mar 02, 01:20

Saturday IPOs used to be about driving traffic to the site on weekends but the high IPO prices seems to be having the opposite effect. {nm} RollingThunder Mar 02, 09:10

+1 Nicely said Willroast {nm} Dorfman Mar 02, 09:27

Well said. It has hampered the enjoyment for me a bit since I am not a day trader. Oh well, such is life. {nm} MiyazakiFan Mar 02, 11:26

Smart thing to do Shorter every Ipo release mike255 Mar 02, 14:06

The market is absolutely NOT BEING MANIPULATED. ndmaster Mar 03, 09:43

I may have used the wrong phrasing since "maipulating" has such negative connotations. As I stated, I actually think it's a fair and square. Willroast Mar 03, 12:55
