Kingsman: I wanted to walk out, but I had nothing else going on so I stayed.
I'd set aside the couple of hours, so by the 45 minute mark or so, when I was truly ready to split, I knew I didn't have anything else to do and I'd have to wait for my wife for an hour, so I grimly sat there and finished it.
That movie was so pleased with itself. And for no good reason. By the time you get to the hackneyed slo-mo butchery sequence I have to admit, I was a little pissed that I'd decided to stay. And having seen the ridiculously underwhelming Kick Ass, I surely knew what kind of sopomoric drivel was coming. But of course, you read enough people talk about how "cool" it all is, and you talk yourself into making a 2 hour mistake lol.
By the end I was still sort of surprised at just how forgettable it all was. And the only thing that's forced me to think about it afterward is the box office, which i just shrug and laugh about. In a world where people are lined up around the block to see crap like Ironman 2 and Thor 2 and whatever else, let's just say I'm not exactly shocked.
The movie it reminded me most of was that dreadful Vegas Magic movie, one of the worst flicks of the past few years, an unfunny, undramatic piece of garbage that really reeled em in LOL. When I kept looking at the box office for that one I couldn't believe what I was seeing. And yet, here it is again!
If they wanna drive some people completely bat-sh*t crazy, run a double feature of Kingman and that Now You See Me or whatever it was called. You will clearly be considerably dumber at the end of that night. You'll wanna jump off the roof of Bellagio, then you won't be seen again. Poof! Magic!
