I do not see any detrimental effect going on from the Oscars, at least with movies in their 2nd or 3rd weekend of release that weekend.
Even the movies that opened Oscar weekened last year, 2/26/16, were in the normal range:

GOEGP - 2.95
TRPL9 - 2.84
Sunday night business is pretty low to begin with on a non-holday weekend during the school year. Even if the Oscars were going to have an effect on a movie like GETOU, it would be effecting the lightest part of the weekend.
