I'm looking so forward to Sucker Punch disappointing this weekend. It's just great when crap fails like it should. Always makes me feel good

Seriously: who wants to go see this?

How interesting will the characters and their story be? Does anyone honestly believe that any thought at all went into making the screenplay anything resembling at least a half assed work of art?

Seriously? Nobody, that's who, and this movie looks pretty dreadful.

Hollywood needs to throw away the computers, the sooner the better.

Here's a novel idea: write a great, compelling story. Something that makes the audience feel that something is honestly at stake, whether it be the vagaries of the human heart, or at the very least an honest attempt at honoring the best attempt possible at genre filmmaking.

Hollywood has completely screwed the pooch. The whole Liz Taylor passing this week has really got me worked up. Honestly, the studio system really appeared to have gotten it right when compared with today's release schedule. Go back to the fifties and look at the sheer quantity of compelling movies that were made compared to the modern era. It's a joke. You can go back to any specific year in the 50's and watch more compelling movies from just one genre (film noir, western, drama, etc.) than all the good movies combined in any contemporary year. And it's the same for the 30's and the 40's. It's not even close. I can name at least 20 solid film noirs in each year of the 50's, movies that are completely worth your time. That's just noirs! At the end of this year try to name me 20 movies combined that are very, very good. Good luck.

Hollywood wants to know why ticket sales are down. Honestly, how hard is it to figure out. Oh yeah, let's all go to the movies this weekend and watch Sucker Punch or I Am Number Four. Or gee, I can't wait for Captain America to come out. Yippee.

Etcetera.

This rant is now complete. Thanks!

Fandango: Sucker Punch and Wimpy Kid are even with 27% of sales apiece. secretstalker Mar 24, 07:40

That is a good sign. Debating heavily if "Punch," can even reach 30 this weekend... {nm} VictorY Mar 24, 08:01

I'm debating heavily if it can even reach 18 this weekend. {nm} goodvibe61 Mar 24, 10:41

last week lincoln lawyer was at 34% and it finished 4th islander Mar 24, 08:22

No comparison because that was inflated from the Groupon promotion, plain and simple. {nm} secretstalker Mar 24, 09:54

we know lnlaw sold 190,000 tix thru the deal. so if that equated to 34%, what does 27% work out to?...150,000 tickets? hardly a drop in the islander Mar 24, 10:15

how about pre-sales for hold-overs? {nm} vont_mariano Mar 24, 08:53

latest NRG has Sucker up in FC and Def. Wimpy stays flat in those two categories. skamanfu Mar 24, 09:16

If they are slightly below LMTLS, doesn't that point exactly to MTC then? {nm} medusa Mar 24, 09:51

Looks like MTC might be right with both openers {nm} filmboy20 Mar 24, 09:54

Not surprising, they have averaged 79.7% accuracy in 2011 so far; although, I think that their ratio is going to drop SLIGHTLY this weekend. PVL Admin Mar 24, 12:12

Some of that is imax inflation but it is advance selling decently {nm} notfabio Mar 24, 10:05

Reviews are looking pretty awful. Might have worse legs than watchmen {nm} filmboy20 Mar 24, 10:51

Yup to your IM. {nm} lesana Mar 24, 11:32

Add one to the group that doesn't/can't get the appeal of a movie like this. {nm} HarryWarden Mar 24, 17:30
