I've heard some say the women have no grounds to complain because "they should know that anything uploaded anywhere is eventually going to go public". (Please note I do not agree with that sentiment.)
There are also fakes (some subtle, some blatant) and mis-identifications (some possibly deliberate?) in the releases.
One story I've heard is that the hacker released some of the images to generate interest, tried to sell the whole package to TMZ, couldn't make a deal with TMZ so is or intends to release all the material to the public.
The postings, re-postings, re-re-postings, followed by file takedowns and site shutdowns is giving me a mental image of an electronic version of the Keystone Kops. I don't even want to guess what some of the after effects of this are going to be in a year or two but I think its going to be a whole lot more than bunch of embaressed celebrities. I can easily see this being what kills net neutrality. EULAs are probably going to become seriously draconian and I figure at least one stupid and unenforceable rights trampling law will be passed at the Federal level.
