Description
Maya Angelou debuts as a feature film director telling a story in Chicago where Alfre Woodard lives with her mother and two children. She succumbs to the drug and alcohol ridden streets of her neighborhood. To pull her daughter and grandchildren out of harm's way, Loretta's mother, played by Mary Alice, pawns her most valuable family heirloom and moves the family back to their ancestral home in the Mississippi delta.
