Description
Mimi Leder was born to direct. Her father, Paul Leder, directed 23 low-budget feature films, and young Mimi worked on all of them. She then entered the film program at Los Angeles City College and followed that with entry into the cinematography program at the American Film Institute. Eventually Leder went on to direct, making her name in TV directing as she received Emmys for directing and co-executive producing NBC's perennial no.1hit ER. She also counts among her credits directing episodes of LA Law and China Beach. She teamed up with ER star George Clooney when she was tabbed to direct DreamWorks first feature film in 1997's action thriller The Peacemaker. She followed that with 1998's science-fiction disaster blockbuster Deep Impact.
