Description
The Beach chronicles a young drifter named Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio) who receives a hand-written map from a mysterious stranger. Supposedly, the map leads to a mythical paradise on an island where others like him have settled. Richard decides to make the journey with a French couple. As the three of them travel through Southeast Asia, a love triangle develops and further trouble ensues when they reach their destination.
The Beach marks the fourth collaboration with writer John Hodge and director Danny Boyle, who teamed up for 1994's Shallow Grave, 1996's Trainspotting and 1997's A Life Less Ordinary.
