First trailer for The Master

The Weinstein Co. has debuted the first theatrical trailer for The Master [MASTR] directed by Paul Thomas Anderson [PTAND].  Set in the1950s, Philip Seymour Hoffman [PSHOF] plays a charismatic philosopher who starts a faith-based organization, not unlike L. Ron Hubbard and Scientiology.  Joaquin Phoenix [JPHOE] plays an ex-Navy drifter who gets drawn in to "The Cause". As he rise to become the leader's right-hand man, the newcomer begins to question the belief system, as well as his mentor.  The Master opens on October 12th.
