Movies

That's actually called volunteer work.

And I think you'll find that a lot of the profits from making movies like Fireproof, Courageous, etc, go back into the ministries that the church currently operates, such as things like feeding the homeless etc.

movieguide.org ask Christians to establish a petition to ask Fox Searchlight to not release SHAME Peterlee Oct 27, 17:33

I guess more conservative groups will try to fight against SHAME and NC-17 rating, because SHAME has real chance to help NC-17 to break out {nm} Peterlee Oct 27, 17:37

if you dont like the movie, dont go see it. They probably havent even seen the movie {nm} Moviesnob Oct 27, 17:47

Indeed. {nm} Ruthian23 Oct 27, 17:50

They would never see it, but they would still try to protest it (and NC-17)..... {nm} Peterlee Oct 27, 17:50

I like how the article mentions COURAGEOUS but doesn't say how the filmmakers use their films & message to exploit free labor and talent. {nm} skamanfu Oct 27, 17:59

That's actually called volunteer work. accountant_4_Jesus Oct 27, 19:15

Their description of Black Swan is hilarious {nm} Andre C Oct 27, 18:03

I love that they're directing the petition at Murdoch. I think he's a little occupied these days. {nm} Ruthian23 Oct 27, 18:06

Personally, if I was living in the US, I'm not sure whether or not I would sign that petition. accountant_4_Jesus Oct 27, 18:07

If you don't want to support the movie, then don't see it. Pretty simple. {nm} stevie1der328 Oct 27, 19:11

Yes, I know that, but it does sound like a double standard is being upheld here (on both sides)... accountant_4_Jesus Oct 27, 19:22

The difference here is no one is sending around a petition to pull Courageous from theaters. {nm} stevie1der328 Oct 27, 19:27

You do have a point there. {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Oct 27, 19:29

But I agree with your larger point, the world needs more tolerance from all places. {nm} stevie1der328 Oct 27, 20:14

I wasn't deliberately talking about tolerance, more consistency in the application of each person's thoughts/beliefs. accountant_4_Jesus Oct 27, 20:44

I don't see a double standard at all. There's a difference between criticising art and criticising values. RogerMore Oct 27, 22:40

Thanks for that article, Roger. accountant_4_Jesus Oct 28, 00:45

Another area where people can't decide for themselves. {nm} grammar Oct 27, 19:03

Sigh. It's called "bullying," even if it's done by the members of a large book club. {nm} second gary Oct 27, 19:19

So there are no sex-addicted Christians? {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Oct 27, 22:17

You'd be surprised how many there are, actually. It's just not publicised much, because people are ashamed to admit it. accountant_4_Jesus Oct 27, 23:50

Absolutely ridiculous. If you don't like a movie, don't watc it. Don't impose your views on others. Disgraceful {nm} numbersix_99 Oct 28, 00:55

Go on! Hope the petition works in this case {nm} HarryWarden Oct 28, 08:15
