Jeffery Wright is replacing Forest Whitaker in the thriller "A Single Shot," which is co-produced by Unified Pictures and B.C.-based Bron Films ("Janie Jones").

Pic also stars the previously announced Sam Rockwell and W.H. Macy. It's helmed by David M. Rosenthal ("Janie Jones") from a screenplay by Matthew F. Jones, who wrote the original novel. A new female lead is currently in negotiations. Juliette Lewis and Jennifer Jason Leigh had previously been attached to star.

"A Single Shot" follows John Moon (Rockwell), a hunter who accidentally shoots a teenage girl while illegally poaching deer. Trying to dispose of her body, he stumbles on a small fortune, unleashing a tense and atmospheric game of cat and mouse between himself and the backwater criminals out for his blood.

Pic began shooting in Vancouver last week.
