For God's Not Dead, before last week there wasn't anything to indicate . Now it's suddenly a wide release opening in 780 theatres, but there's no moviestock on the exchange. So what should the IPO price be? This movie was under the radar until last week - is it actually going to be a success, or will it flop because no one knows about it?
Now personally, I don't see much of an issue in setting the IPO based on tracking, or a best guess. But obviously I'm not HSX.
But HSX doesn't like giving away easy money to traders, and it's not going to gain a lot of useful sell-able data because the window between IPO and release is so small. And also, with an IPO this close to release, the IPO price is setting out HSX's expectations of what the adjust would be - rather than the market's expectations.
