the characters, as they have currently been portrayed would not probably work since they are embedded in our minds as the recent flicks have influenced us. A reimagining of them could happen sometime but not so soon I think. And they could both be way darker. Batman is practically a bad guy in some of his stories.

Spiderman and Ironman could be Marvel comps. Regretably with Ironman since there was potential for a dark history with him that was, sadly, ignored.Ā

My bold statement here though is that I think the audience is going to continue to show that "dark" (as I defined my version above) is going to be the next step in the comic franchise golden road. We;ve seen campy, we've seen actiony, we've seen pseudo-dark, I think true dark takes its turn soon. Hopefully starting in '16 with SS, CW, SvB, and several TV prospects.

Speaking of 'fun' superhero film... "Captain America: Civil War" is a 'dark' superhero film, but it still tested extremely well Peterlee Feb 13, 20:05

Civil War is a ton of fun {nm} Moviesnob Feb 13, 20:12

Just because the movie goes to dark places doesnt mean its as dark as BvS. the stakes are serious thats all {nm} Moviesnob Feb 13, 20:15

its not guardians or ant man, but theres humor. Its tone about the same as Winter Soldier {nm} Moviesnob Feb 13, 20:27

This is great news. I think Suicide Squad and Civil War will show that there is a big interest in dark superhero stories. {nm} Willroast Feb 13, 21:02

(not meaning to exclude SvB, just not sold on Afleck pulling it off yet, hope to be wrong) {nm} Willroast Feb 13, 21:06

After reading posts below, I see that folks here seem to think that superhero films have already been dark. Well... Willroast Feb 13, 21:58

well, there's serious/grounded vs fantasy. "Dark" can exist in both in many different ways. The point I was making was the lesson Moviesnob Feb 13, 22:33

IDK, I think Affleck is going to be great as Batman, might even be the highlight. {nm} ~JPV~ Feb 13, 23:12

I've been skeptical since he was first rumored, but if he can keep that stupid grin of his in check as Batman than he may be alright. {nm} Dorfman Feb 14, 01:51

Big if. {nm} VicMackeyYTD Feb 14, 02:06

HUGE. I'll expect is as Bruce Wayne, but not as the bat. {nm} RREYN Feb 14, 06:13
