High Fidelity is adapted from the wildly popular Nick Hornby book by Steve Pink, D. V. DeVincentis, John Cusack, and Scott Rosenberg. They moved the originally setting of London to Chicago. Pink, DeVincentis, and Cusack co-wrote Gross Pointe Blank. Rosenberg is a prolific screenwriter whose credits include Disturbing Behavior, and Con Air.
Stephen Frears directs John Cusack in this romantic comedy about a thirty-something record shop owner who must face facts that he has never grown up when his long-time girlfriend walks out on him. As he examines his failed attempts at romance and happiness, the process finds him being dragged, kicking and screaming, into adulthood.
