The auteur of several well-known music videos, Jonze won Best Picture from the National Society of Film Critics for his freshman effort, Being John Malkovich.
In one of the strangest movies to ever grace the silver screen, John Cusack plays a puppeteer named Craig Schwartz who finds a portal into the head of real life actor John Malkovich, played by John Malkovich. For fifteen minutes, a traveler can experience what it is like being John Malkovich. Craig plans to turn a profit from the discovery with the help of his love interest Maxine, played with aplomb by Catherine Keener. However, complications arise when Maxine and Craig's wife Lotte, played by a nearly unidentifiable Cameron Diaz, decide to use the portal for personal gains.
REM frontman Michael Stipe helped produce Being John Malkovich, based upon a brilliant script by Charlie Kaufman.
