In one of the strangest movies to ever grace the silver screen, John Cusack plays a puppeteer Craig Schwartz who finds a portal into the head of real life actor John Malkovich, played by John Malkovich. For fifteen minutes, a traveler can experience what it is like being John Malkovich.
Craig plans to turn a profit from the discovery with the help of his love interest Maxine, played brilliantly by Catherine Keener. However, complications arise when Maxine and Craig's wife Lotte, played by a nearly unidentifiable Cameron Diaz, decide to use the portal for personal gains.
REM frontman Michael Stipe helped produce Being John Malkovich, a brilliant script by Charlie Kaufman that many in Hollywood thought was unfilmable. The producers found the perfect director in famed video aut Spike Jonze, who makes an impressive feature film debut.
