News: Universal has acquired domestic rights to Larry Crowne.

Universal has acquired domestic rights to "Larry Crowne," starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, with Hanks set to direct from his own script. [LCROW]

"Crowne" will be produced by Hanks and producing partner Gary Goetzman through their Playtone shingle.

Film is set to begin production in April in Los Angeles.

Story centers on a middle-aged man who's forced to find a new career. Nia Vardalos wrote the original script as "Talk of the Town" in a deal announced in 2006.
