There used to be a site that listed the 4 week grosses of older movies, (can't remember the name) but I think it's gone now...
One of the fansites used to have that...HOWEVER... Box Office Guru still offers info on how much various older movies made during their runs - which may be of interest to you.

You can check it out, as it has info on movies that open in the $17-20M range, $20-$25M range, etc...
Remember, that even though you want the info for 'comparison' purposes, each movie (even sequels, etc) must stand on their own, so just because a movie like Spiderman 1 made $114M opening weekend, did not mean Spiderman 2 would maker more (it actually made less, with an $88M opening, while #3 made more with $151M opening)... so just keep that in mind when comparing older movies made vs. the newer ones...

Try IMDB. www.imdb.com. Find the movie you want, then look down the left sidebar menu for box office figures. {nm} Oct 11, 12:39
