I am pretty lucky where I live. Although there used to be an awesome arthouse cinema just five mins walk from here; it's been turned into apartments and offices :( In the nineties (before I lived in this area) I used to always go see animation festivals there. Now you can't see that kind of thing at all in Sydney, really.
Melbourne is the best place for cinema in Aus these days. Understandably.
