I long winded opinion of what's really going on here

Posted by: wroberson on Jan 15, 00:30 in response to RogerMore's post Bubba_Fett - you are scrutinizing the actions of a guy...

The short answer is this was going to happen.

I'm not one to believe in free will.  Everything we have or will do is predetermined.  In one way we are following God's path.  God created life, created the path, and we are just following it.  In another way, the past, present and future and everything in it are created at the same time.  Either at the Big Back when everything that was, is and will be were created, or at the moment the popcorn comes out.

The other day I was doing a reality check.  Within 3 or 4 days I got 3 parking tickets and hit by a red light camera.  I felt like I had lost the sense of control I so much enjoy.  I enjoy it so much, I even have come to see my own future.  Then the belt on my waterpump went out.

I was going to park there.  I always choose to go through red lights over slamming on the breaks.  The pressure of time and being so far out of the territory caused the ignorance as the video clearly shows I had a few seconds to slow down which would have caused me to be at a managable speed to stop safely and calmly.

Even the little things are in question and you'd think you chose that color shirt, but there was so much going on, you never had the chance.  Maybe it was the clean one or had fewer wrinkles.  You needed the shirt.  You were going to need it at work.

It'll have to do.  I did a really great job planning my near future and I have it on good notice the distant future isn't too far off or out of reach.

As for the social issue, what ever gets us close to me having the place to myself works for me.

Bubba_Fett - you are scrutinizing the actions of a guy throwing popcorn, but not those of the guy who discharged a deadly weapon in a movie RogerMore Jan 14, 12:14

And that's what I said at the outset... Not being a dick could have gone a long way to prevent this tragedy. {nm} Bubba_Fett Jan 14, 12:16

So could "not taking a gun to the theatre" and all the other things I mentioned. But you're still focussed on "don't be a dick" as though it RogerMore Jan 14, 12:26

The point I guess I'm failing to make is that this tragedy could have been averted any number of ways through simple human decency. Bubba_Fett Jan 14, 12:37

And yet you're still stuck on the victim being a dick, rather than the shooter firing for no good reason {nm} RogerMore Jan 14, 12:46

I'm just showing where this wrong, from the beginning. It should go without saying, but it should have never got to that point. {nm} Bubba_Fett Jan 14, 12:59

It went wrong when someone took a gun into a theatre. "Don't be a dick or you (and maybe your wife) could get shot" isn't a great rule. RogerMore Jan 14, 15:08

You're right, but the texter was a "dick". The shooter was a "DICK!!!" *I would have altered to a bigger font if I could :) {nm} PVL Admin Jan 14, 12:31

If only George Zimmerman had been there to shoot the shooter before he could shoot. {nm} second gary Jan 14, 12:18

No, wait; if only theatre staff were armed, so they could shoot George Zimmerman before he shot the shooter. {nm} second gary Jan 14, 12:19

No, wait; if only there were an active duty police officer to shoot the theatre staff before they shot Zimmerman before he could shoot. . . second gary Jan 14, 12:20

FYI: Results in texter being dead, and shooter being alive. (Not the desired result of your example I think) PVL Admin Jan 14, 12:33

Or if (this is a crazy thought, bear with me) the theater staff had done their jobs and asked the dickhead to stop texting, he'd be alive. {nm} Bubba_Fett Jan 14, 12:47

Not a crazy thought at all. On the other hand, if the theatre was a 20-screen multiplex staffed by nine teenagers, I'd look to. . . second gary Jan 14, 13:03

Be careful, double posting is a shootable offence. {nm} elchan2012 Jan 14, 12:48
