18 is less than 18.05 The limit is executed since you got a better deal than 18.05. On a buy order, you have to put the maximum you
are willing to pay. If you said buy at 15, it would not execute until the price was at 15 or less. Since you said you wanted to buy at 18.05 or less, less it was. (Same for cover)
On a sell or short, you put the Minimum. So on a halted stock that you want to sell/short, you could put in 1.00 or even .01 and it executes immediately upon reactivation, since whatever price exists will be greater than your minimum.
