Based on the Sylvia Plath novel, The Bell Jar stars Dakota Fanning as Esther Greenwood, a young reporter who tries to make it in New York only to return home to Boston in a state of depression. She makes attempts on her own life and undergoes a great deal of therapy. The Bell Jar was considered close to be autobiographical which became tragic when Plath committed suicide. Kirsten Dunst makes her directorial debut from a screenplay she co-adapted with Ellie Kim.
