First you need to know "when" to buy a stock. To me, the best stock to buy is one that has news on it and that is usually likely found posted on the Movies Forum. Yeah, a LOT of stocks are underpriced...and you can find great buys. BUT, what is the point of finding that hidden gem if no one else notices it? And going on the Movies Forum and posting...hey this is a great buy and why does not generate the type of sustained movement you really want and may be seen as manipulating. Ther eare other times to buy, short, sell or cover stocks but the easiest one to remember is when there is news. =)
So, read Variety...Read The Hollywood REporter, check out Comingsoon.net, Latinoreview.com, etc. Today for instance, note that GUCCI has news on the movie board from Variety that Angelina Jolie might be coming on board. Now look at the stock. This is exactly the type of stock a 2 million $ port should jump on.
As you play more, you will see how the stocks go up and hten recede. Another valuable tool is called "Radaring". This is when you purchase just one share and it allows you to observe the movement over time without costing you a lot.
My strategy for a small port is to play % profit...NOT $ profit. I just want to beat that 2% commission it costs to purchase and then sell. A stock like GUCCI...you can get a double digit % return. A stock like HOBIT will take you quite a few clicks to make even a 2% return.
Here is how much a click is approximately
stocks under $20 move at .13 clips
stocks under I think $30 or $40 move at .25 clips
Stocks under I think $50 or $40 move at .38
Stocks $90 to 50 maybe move at .50 clips
Stocks 199 to 100 move at .63
Stocks 200 and greater move at .75
The middle movements are hard for me to remember...I used to have them memorized...it can be useful info sometimes.
Good luck trading and as everyone says, ask plenty of questions here...lotta folks will answer and try to be helpful.
