New Player w/ Question
I know a lot about movies, but very little about what I'm doing on this site thus far.
However, moments ago my net worth was $1,995,024.61 and since I had GAINED $15,000 with my Fright Night stock I decided to sell it and see what happens. First of all, I sold all 10,000 shares at a limit price of $26.50 (current high price). The sale went through at that price, though it appears they do indeed take 1% of your sale, because instead of earning $265,000 from the sale I only got back $262,350. That's fine, but I still assumed my net worth would go up about $12,000 or so. Instead, my net worth actually went down to about $1,992,370, meaning I somehow LOST $3000, rather than gaining $12,000. What gives? None of my other stocks seemed to move much (if at all) in those few minutes. Thanks in advance.

You pay 1% on the buy and another 1% on the sell, so you hope for at least a 2% gain before you sell. May 01, 12:27
