And then they marketed it using a MAGA hat. That’s just as obvious and blatant as what you’re talking about.
I’ll put it another way. You and I, as normal, non-movie-producing people would not be greenlighting a movie like The Hunt because we’d be thinking “that’s pretty offensive, I’d rather make another movie”. But I completely get why the people who made four Purge movies and made big $$$$ on each one would not think twice about doing so, because it’s not a big step to go from that to The Hunt - especially as it seems to flip the formula to make people on the blue side of politics the one-dimensional baddies with unbelievable caricature lines like “nothing’s better than shooting a dozen deplorables” and people on the red side the sympathetic victims who turn the tables on the hunters.
They must be the first film-makers ever to offend a group of people by making them the good guys. Now they’re probably wishing they’d just made Purge 5 instead.
