Poll for no reason: When did you first go online? First thing you ever downloaded? First song you downloaded?
First time online: Approx 1995 (oddly, I cant find an exact timeline of the internet on the internet) I was switching between AOL and Prodigy, and I know neither were quite yet offering access to the WWW.
Back then, internet was charged BY THE HOUR! Later Prodigy went to 30 hrs a month(!) for $29.95 and that was a big deal :)
First connection speed: 9600 bps modem!
Hung out in the chatrooms and on the Usenet alot. First nick was "Beefaroni" (what was I thinking) Then used "mmmfreegoo" (simpsons reference) for a while.
First download: A fake nude pic of Sandra Bullock :D Back then pictures were in binary format, so you had to use a converter (UUEncode) to see it, which could be tricky.
First Song: Either the Dances with Wolves theme in MIDI format (if youve never heard a midi before, you gotta find one) or a WAV of Live's Lightning Crashes. (songs took like an hour to d/l back then!)
