Roberto Luongo (VCR) is rumoured to being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs which would make James Reimer (TOR) a Backup (Hint - Backups do not play much in a shortened Season). This would also turn Cory Schneider (VCR) into a potential elite NHL Goaltender.
Ilya Kovalchuk (NJ) may stay in Russia in the KHL. Puzzling - but Ovechkin says he understands why he might do that (but would not elaborate). Translated comments from Russian KHL President indicate he is staying there. Best guess is that he will be back but may miss a few games. There is an Agreement between the NHL & KHL. Kovalchuk also has a huge NHL Contract.
Alexei Kovalev is expected to join the Florida Panthers training camp as a Free Agent.
Look for some serious firepower from the Edmonton Oilers youngsters. They are all in great game shape.
