This show tonight, it was just crazy how fabulous it was.
The unique use of the entire floor area was truly inspired. The Edge's guitar just rang through the entire arena. There were moments of true beauty, and moments that just flat out rocked.
There was a fabulous bit where Bono brought up an Elvis impersonator. The guy sings a couple of quick verses of I can't help falling in love, and he brought the house down. Bono: "Thanks Elvis".
And again, it was a literal who's who of folks standing down in this special area on the floor. Kudos to Pierce Brosnan, dude was totally cool, and you could tell just how much he dug it. He was standing right next to Toni Collette, who also appeared to be in seventh heaven. Julia Roberts. T Bone. Dave Stewart from Eurythmics. Juliette Lewis. On and on, all kinds of people.
Thank God it's burned into my memory, like many of their other great shows.
If you can get tickets on the floor for this, I'd recommend it. Yes, you're standing all evening, but it's a great experience, and you don't have to deal with the crowd if you don't want to, you can just hang back a bit and take in the visual extravaganza.
