For whatever reason Dec. 1, 1997 is the earliest reg date
But not the earliest trade date, so there's something going on there. There was a major site upgrade then and its very likely that, for whatever reason, reg dates were either not captured before or needed to be replaced with the Dec. 1 date.
If this is important to you e can look up your earliest trade date if you send your user name to support@hsx.com. It seems reasonable that your first trade would be on the day you registered.
