Ways to trade

Buying

Buying is one of several ways you can trade on the Hollywood Stock Exchange®. By buying a MovieStock®, for example, you are betting that the price will rise. If the price does rise, you've made money. If the price falls, you've lost money. Reading news and interacting with the community is a great way to keep track of what may be a good buy on the exchanges.

Selling

Selling is another one of several ways you can trade on the Exchange. Sell when you think a security has already peaked in its price. In the case of selling, you must have already owned the item prior to selling it.

Short Selling

The simple rule behind short selling is that if you think a particular security is overvalued and the price is going to go down, you should sell the security "short." On the Hollywood Stock Exchange, almost anything goes, including using the failures of others to make a profit. If the next big blockbuster film looks to be an overhyped, overrated mess, you can still make a profit by shorting.

Covering

Covering is the opposite of short selling. Realize your profit/loss by covering your shorted security. You must already have the item short prior to covering it.

Commissions

There is no such thing as a free lunch in Hollywood, and the same goes for the Hollywood Stock Exchange. All trades made on the Movie Market™are subject to a one-percent commission, with a minimum of 2 cents per share, automatically deducted from your portfolio.
