Despite a headstart by a new competitor to the box office race, Sonic the Hedgehog [SONIC] rallied to cross the finish line in first place with an estimated $26.3 million. The videogame feature adaptation decline 55% from its opening, but has now banked $106.6 million.
The Call of the Wild [TCOTW] mushed $24.8 million to outperformed expectation in its debut at the second spot. The audience was evenly split between males and females while 62% are aged 25 and older.
Birds of Prey [GOTCS] earned another $7.0 million to rank third, bringing its total to $72.5 million.
Brahms: The Boy II [TBOY2] opened in fourth place with $5.9 million. The horror sequel appealed to a crowd that was 53% female and 56% under the age of 25.
Blumhouse's Fantasy Island [FANIS] fell 66% in its second weekend to $4.2 million and seventh overall. The horror film has grossed $20.2 million.
The Photograph [PHOTO] suffered an even greater sophomore drop of 77% to $2.8 million. The romance sits at $17.6 million.
