Nominations for the 98th Academy Awards have been announced. Warner Bros. secured 30 nominations led by Sinners with a record-breaking 16 nominations followed by One Battle After Another with 13 nominations. One Battle After Another and Sinners are the co-favorites in the Best Picture category rounded out by 8 others: Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value, The Secret Agents and Train Dreams.
Chloe Zhao is the sole previous winner in the Best Director category where she’ll compete against Joachim Trier, Josh Safdie, Paul Thomas Anderson and Ryan Coogler.
The Best Actor category pits previous winner Leonardo DiCaprio against Ethan Hawke,, Michael B. Jordan, Timothee Chalamet and Wagner Moura.
Two-time winner Emma Stone received her seventh nomination and will compete for Best Actress against Jessie Buckely, Kate Hudson, Renate Reinsve and Rose Byrne.
The nominees for Best Supporting Actor are Benicio Del Toro, Delroy Lindo, Jacob Elordi, Sean Penn and Stellan Skarsgard.
Amy Madigan received her second Best Supporting Actress nomination after 40 years and will face first-time nominees Elle Fanning, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Teyana Taylor and Wunmi Mosaku.
Competing in Best Adapted Screenplay are Bugonia, Frankenstein, Hamnet, One Battle After Another and Train Dreams.
Competing in Best Original Screenplay are Blue Moon, It Was Just An Accident, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value and Sinners.
The Academy Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 15th . The AwardOption for the winner will cash out at H$25, while those failing to win will delist at H$0.
