The King's Speech triumphed at the 83rd Academy Awards winning Best Picture, Best Actor for Colin Firth, Best Director for Tom Hooper and Original Screenplay for David Seidler. Natalie Portman took home the Oscar for Best Actress in Black Swan. Christian Bale won Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Fighter while his co-star Melissa Leo was named Best Supporting Actress. The statuette for Best Adapted Screenplay went to Aaron Sorkin for The Social Network.
AwardOptions were offered for the Oscar nominees in the eight major categories and HSX correctly predicted seven out of the eight Scademy Awards winners. The King's Speech was the traders' runaway choice for Best Picture. The Best Director category turned out to be the closest race and the toughest choice for traders to decipher. Although Tom Hooper led the category for the vast duration of trading on the exchange, David Fincher for The Social Network nudged ahead during the past couple of days. The late switch was not fortuitous.
Oscar winners Colin Firth and Natalie Portman were also heavily favored by HSX traders. While The King's Speech's Geoffrey Rush posed an early challenge, Christian Bale was the traders' overwhelming choice for Best Supporting Actor by the end. Despite a late rally for True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld, the majority of traders stuck with Melissa Leo for Best Supporting Actress and were rewarded. HSX traders also forecasted the winners in the Original Screenplay and Adapted Screenplay categories by wide margins.
