First trailer for John Carter

Disney has revealed the first trailer for the fantasy adventure John Carter [OMARS] on Apple.   Taylor Kitsch [TKITS] stars as an American Civil War-era soldier who is inexplicably transported to Mars (or Barsoom to its inhabitants) where he becomes embroiled in a conflict between warring factions.   Disney seemingly wants to hide the fact that the movie takes place within our solar system by dropped of Mars from the title of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel.  However, rather than transport moviegoers to an exotic, alien world of Avatar porportions that fans were expecting, the trailer comes across more earthbound like Prince of Perisa meets Conan the Barbarian.

Personally this trailer gives me a lot of hope. I have been looking forward to this for a long time. I am excited to see what Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton can do with live action.
