A stock's value is based on market forces...how many people buy it, short it, sell it, etc...
Also, this is one of the secret's of HSX, and their patented software - no one really knows how many shares it takes to buy/sell/short/cover, etc. for a stock to go up 5 points, down 2 points, etc.
Volume of shares bought/sold, etc., was usually found at Faaborg's HSX site, but it's not up any longer with the launch of V4....I don't usually follow Volume's, so someone else may post the new link for you on this...
