Couple of factors (inside)

Mario fans miffed they didn't use the current VO actor who has been doing the voice for 20+ years (the one thing they didn't mess around with on Transformers is replacing Peter Cullen) though he's still doing misc voices for the film.

People who don't like his views/beliefs, particluarly the fairly controversial religious group he's a part of.  Though everyone who works with him has nothing but great things to say about him (the other Avengers actors call him "the nicest Chris")

The "too close" timing of voicing two pop culture characters.
